Stop the presses!

Wow. So much has happened since my last post. I wrote about 20,000 words of Speaker of Runes, then I stopped. The story is good, and I am going to finish it one day. But my creative attention has been seized by another project. An EPIC project about which I am tremendously excited.

No, it’s not like the others. What others? The hundreds of stories I have started and stopped because my short-term need for catharsis through writing was satiated. This time, things are different.

I’ve plotted out a trilogy. The first book is fully plotted, only left for discovery writing to fill in the detail. Books 2 and 3 are synopsized (not a word but it works); I’ve got 3-4 sentences detailing events. I figure once I write the first book I can move on to flesh out the others. This is an EPIC FANTASY, something I’ve always wanted to write. The magic system takes a backseat to history, culture, religion, etc., and it is the impact that the magic system has on the world that makes it interesting. There will be multiple points of view, not just binary protag/antag chapters.

cannot wait to finish the first book. I’m about 20,000 words in already. I am probably looking at 200,000 words overall considering what I’ve written and where I’m going.
